About Us
We have walked a day in your shoes
All of our services are delivered by highly trained professionals with over 50 years hands on experience.

Treating the Root Cause
Connecting strives to provide solutions ~ delivering the most effective support to treat the root cause.
We provide subsidised, practical, person centred and solution focussed
therapeutic support. Our services are carefully integrated to match need.
We offer 3 types of support:
Direct support to young people
Direct support to those that work in education
Direct support to develop whole organisation policy and practice.
We know everybody needs somebody!
How we work
Our Approach

Our Structure
As a Community Interest Business (CiC), Connecting is not for profit organisation.
Our board of Trustees have overall accountability. Using information from our steering group, Service Director and Clinical Lead, our trustees, lead by the chair make ALL decisions about the operation, direction and financial spending of the company. We operate this structure as we wish to stay true to the approach of ‘not for profit’ and not in one persons interest but in the best interest of our educational community.
We MUST ensure that our services are accessible to ALL, that they do not discriminate or favour.

Aims, Objectives & Guiding Principles
Connecting is a person centred & solution focused, integrated therapeutic service. We are proactive in our delivery and in ensuring
that our integrated services are carefully co-ordinated and implemented.
By asking for contributory fees, from educational organisations and individuals, we encourage ownership but use a range of charitable funding streams to significantly subsidise costs.
We work in partnership with a range of service providers to ensure the best provision and we continuously strive to foster the learning and development of those working for and with us.
Our organisation operates through and is built upon its core values of:
Integrity – Advocacy – Care – Empathy – Empowerment

The Triangle of Service
Experience shows us that if organisations commit to developing each of the services on the triangle, they will make a real and tangible difference to the mental health and well-being of those they work with and for.
To achieve the Triangle of Service we operate through three ‘satellite’ organisations.

Bella & Bear
Providing direct mental health support to
young people

B & B
Providing direct mental health support to staff.

USE-ed
Providing support and capacity to educational
organisations to develop policy and practice.
All of our services are person centred. Therefore we do not set time limiters. We will conclude with a natural ending when an individual is ready.
We use an average of 18 weeks for individual sessions and 12 weeks for group sessions.

Connecting with
Our Connections
Connecting like-minded individuals and organizations is crucial for addressing mental health and support needs of young people, particularly aged 9-15.
Connecting recognises the wealth of great work happening in this field but acknowledges that it is yet to truly impact on the young people near them.
Connecting acknowledges that everyone needs support at different times in life, and one size does not fit all. Young people need to feel safe and heard, and services should treat the root cause rather than just symptoms. Delivering services by those who truly understand and walk in their shoes can make people feel safer and more engaged.
We will be forever indebted for the great work of our Professional Associates, most
notably, Derby University, Regul8 and Mountsorrel Education Fund.
